While other aspects of our vehicles are important to keep them running, we believe that tires are still some of the most crucial parts of our cars. If we don’t have the right set of tires, then this could be a disaster waiting to happen – we’re not exaggerating.
Here at Tire Zone, we’re always looking for ways to educate our readers and clients when it comes to all things cars. Plus, we do know a thing or two about tires – hence our name.
In this article, we’re going to be telling you the four types of tires that each driver should know about – not just in Houston, Texas, but around the United States of America.
- Snow Tires
From its name, you probably already have an idea of what this type of tire is for. Yes, these tires are used while driving through snow and ice, especially so in cities or states with frigid winters – mainly in the northern and eastern parts of the country.
The tread of these tires are deep, but they can also be reinforced with ceramic or metal studs. Plus, the rubber in these tires is specifically designed to withstand much colder and wetter temperatures.
- Sand Tires
These types of tires are also known as “paddle tires,” and the tread on these tires is described as “knobby,” since they provide transaction. Although sand tires have a scoop-like and larger area than traditional tire tread gaps, these tires have the advantage when it comes to driving in sandy and loose conditions.
- Mud-Terrain Tires
A mud-terrain tire is similar to an all-terrain tire, but the former is geared towards vehicles that are more for off-road or adventurous surfaces. These types of tires are made from durable rubber, and they also have reinforced sidewalls which allows them to carry a heavier capacity. Plus, its treads are more pronounced than all-terrain tires, which gives them a better grip on solid ground and muddy conditions.
- All-Terrain Tires
Do you consider yourselves to be multi-taskers? Well, if that’s the case, then an all-terrain tire could be the perfect fit for you. These tires are for people who do a good amount of driving on the road but also enjoy the weekend driving through the woods. These tires can give you the best of both worlds, and they are more durable than simple road tires – that’s for sure.
As we’ve previously mentioned, tires are some of the most important parts of our vehicles, so it’s vital to choose the best one that would fit our lifestyles.
